Moto X Style India launch set for 8 October; features 5.7-inch display, 21MP camera and more

Motorola has earlier confirmed that it will soon launch its mid-range flagship smartphone Moto X Style in India. Now, the company has hinted about the upcoming launch of the phone on October 8 by putting teasers on Flipkart, its exclusive online retail partner. The device was initially unveiled in August in the US for a price of $399 (unlocked) for the 16GB variant. The expected price for the device in India is Rs 26,000.

The teaser mentions “#Beautility lies in being free. Get ready to party in 15 minutes flat with the Moto X Style on the 8th of October,2015!” However, the page does not share details regarding price. Interested users can send in their email address and will be notified regarding the update.(Well, I surely have!)

The Moto X Style features a 5.7-inch QuadHD display offering a 515ppi pixel density. The phone houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 SoC with a 1.8GHz hexa-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM.

It will come with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on board with Motorola’s proprietary features such as Moto Voice, Moto Assist, Moto Display, Moto Actions and so on. The Moto X Style will come in 16/32/64GB storage variants with microSD card slot to add in an additional 128GB.

On the camera front, you get a 21MP rear camera with an f/2.0 aperture and a 5MP front-facing camera which will be accompanied with a flash as well. The camera is capable of shooting 4K videos. It will be powered by a 3,000 mAh battery.

And what I was waiting for is finally here if I'm not wrong,

The Moto X Style will support the Moto Maker program letting you customise the phone according to your preferences. You can choose between leather, and natural wood covers.

Moto X Play may launch in India on 14 September

Bored... Scrolling Down my twitter wall, I noticed that Motorola India has sent out tweets hinting at
the probable launch of the new generation Moto X, most likely Moto X Play. The Moto X Play and Moto X Style were launched in the US on the same day that the Moto G (3rd gen) was announced in India.

The timing of the teaser is important as it has come out after two weeks of the Moto X Play having been spotted on the Zauba listings of imported devices. The listing shows a smartphone codenamed Motorola XT1562 which has been shipped to India for testing purposes.

The Zauba listing shows units of the black and white models of Motorola XT1562 sporting 32GB storage. While the unit price has been shown as Rs 22,228, there is no clarity if this is indeed the official price tag of the Moto X Play.

At the international launch of the Moto X devices, Motorola didn’t announce their official prices, considering it was a simultaneous launch across three different continents. But post the event, according to The Guardian, the Moto X Play would be priced at £299 which is approx Rs 30,000 and the Moto X Style would be priced at £359 or approx Rs 36,000.

The Moto X Play will come with a 5.5-inch full HD display thereby giving it a pixel density of 400 ppi. Moto X Play will come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC featuring a 1.7GHz octa-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM. Just like the Moto X Style, this will also feature 4G LTE support, Android 5.1.1 with the same Motorola software features, 21MP rear and 5MP front facing camera.

The video capture mode of the the Moto X Play is limited to full HD mode and its front camera won’t get a dedicate flash unit. But the Play will come with a staggering 3,630mAh battery which according to Motorola will offer a 48 hours of mixed use time. The Moto X Play is expected to come in 16GB and 32GB variants only with the option to expand the storage via a microSD card slot.

Press invites for the launch of the Moto X Play have already been sent out and both Motorola and Flipkart have been teasing the phone for some time now, so, the e-commerce giant will most-definitely be its primary vendor.

E-commerce giant Flipkart had reportedly put up a special page for the Moto X Play which included a countdown timer. However, the website has taken down the page for reasons unknown. The timer suggested that the phone would be available in India on September 14 at 2PM via Flipkart.

Motorola sends invites hinting at a probable launch of 3rd gen Moto G and Moto X on 28 July

Motorola sends invites hinting at a probable launch of 3rd gen Moto G and Moto X on 28 July

With the OnePlus launching its OnePlus 2 on the 27th, Motorola appears to give a competition. Motorola has reportedly sent out invites for its event slated for July 28. The company is expected to launch the rumoured third iterations of Moto G and Moto X.

The event will be held in New Delhi, alongside events in London, New York and San Francisco. The event will be first held in India at 3:30PM, followed by San Paulo, New York and London. The company has also setup a microsite for the event.

The India invite reads, “A good friend will offer you their umbrella. A best friend will forever be ready to dance in the rain with you.” The other invites are also along the ‘relationship’ lines.

It looks like an invite for a new product, especially considering the leaks and rumours around the third-generation Moto G and Moto X.

It was just recently that Moto G third gen was accidentally listed on Flipkart. Apart from the fact that the 3rd Gen Moto G will come in the white colour with 8GB storage, there wasn’t much listed on the site. The model number of the listed Moto phone was AP3560AD1K8.

Leaks have suggested that the next generation of the Moto G will be a major upgrade over the 2nd gen Moto G. It is expected to come with a 5-inch or a 5.2-inch full HD display and it will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 610 SoC with 1.7GHz quad core processor paired with 2GB of RAM. Moreover, Moto G (2nd gen) recently got a price drop to Rs 9,999, further hinting at a successor.

Considering the Moto X 2014 was launched alongside the second gen Moto G, there is also the possibility that Motorola is working on its successor that was previously rumoured to be launched in September.
