OnePlus, The Biggest Chinese Startup has announced that its upcoming OnePlus 2 smartphone will come with 4GB of RAM.
The smartphone, which will be announced on July 27, will have the next-generation LPDDR4 memory chips. At present, only Samsung's Galaxy S6 and S6 edge are the only smartphones to pack DDR4 RAM.
Apart from Asus Zenfone 2, no other smartphone in the Indian market comes with 4GB of RAM, which is needed to make use of the 64-bit processor for faster operations of the next generation of apps.
On its official forum, OnePlus wrote:
Why did we choose LPDDR4 for the OnePlus 2? Another notable benefit is lower power consumption for better battery efficiency. That means you'll be able to use your favorite apps (and more) without draining the battery. With LPDDR4, you get twice the bandwidth performance as the LPDDR3 at the same power consumption profile. The RAM of the OnePlus 2 uses a lower operating voltage than its predecessor, decreasing from 1.2V to 1.1V. And with speeds up to 32 GB/s, it is also twice as fast as the LPDDR3. It offers optimal support for power-saving low frequency mode that brings clock speeds down when performing those everyday and necessary tasks.
The company revealed yesterday that the OnePlus 2 smartphone will cost less than $450 at launch. Though it is quite high compared to the $299 launch price of OnePlus One, the smartphone is expected to have top-end features at a low price tag compared to models by the likes of Samsung, Apple, HTC etc. The company has also confirmed that it will run on Qualcomm's rather new 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor.
According to leaked photos, OnePlus 2 will look quite similar to its predecessor but have a metal body, while the company says that its fingerprint scanner will be faster than Apple's TouchID sensor.
