OnePlus has been taking to some aggressive marketing strategy out there! After a 60-minute delivery for the Oneplus One in Bengaluru, the company has now announced a one-hour open sale for its latest OnePlus 2 smartphone on Amazon India.
The OnePlus 2 will be available for purchase via an open sale on October 12 between 12 noon to 1PM, without the need for an invite. This isn’t surprising as without disclosing much the company had earlier promised an open sale for the device in either late September or early October.
A world-first VR launch, putting India on its priority list and a jaw-dropping price, the OnePlus 2 made a well thought entry into the Indian market. It is available in 16GB and 64GB variants priced at Rs 22,999 and Rs 24,999, respectively, and seems like a perfect blend of elegance and solid specs.
With the OnePlus 2, the company has built a device that will be competing with the likes of the Google Nexus 6P and others. In fact, the superior specs sheet at an comparatively lower price gives it an edge over the other flagships.
Design-wise, the metal-frame design makes it look premium. It sports a 5.5-inch 1080p display. As promised, the smartphone also comes with a fingerprint scanner and USB Type-C port. The fingerprint scanner is faster than the iPhone TouchID and lets you save up to five fingerprints, says OnePlus.
On the camera front, it comes with a 13-megapixel snapper. It also gets a new camera and a new solution that allows you to take 50MP photos and there’s also the slow motion mode. It comes powered by Snapdragon 810 coupled with 4GB of RAM and houses a 3,300mAh battery.
OnePlus 2 invite registrations cross one million mark in mere 72 hours
OnePlus launched the much talked about OnePlus 2 in the world’s first virtual reality launch event on July 27. The Chinese company has promoted over a million people to register for the new device in a mere 72 hours. At the launch event, the company had stated that it sold 1.5 million OnePlus One smartphones since its launch. In comparison, then new phone has already received such a huge number of registrations or an invite to purchase the latest OnePlus 2.
OnePlus will be hosting a pop-up event in New York, San Francisco, London, Paris, Berlin, Milan, New Delhi, Bangalore, and Jakarta on July 31 where fans can experience the new OnePlus 2 smartphone.
The 64GB OnePlus 2 will be available for purchase with an invite in India starting August 11, exclusively on Amazon. The 16GB OnePlus 2 with 3GB LPPDR4 RAM will be available later this year.

A recent report suggests that after the launch of OnePlus 2, the company plans to offer a price drop for the OnePlus One. In conversation with Business Today, Vikas Agarwal, General Manager, OnePlus-India confirmed that the company will not discontinue any storage variant of the OnePlus One. However, he stated that consumers can expect a price drop for the OnePlus One in the coming days.

It runs on a 3300mAh battery andweighs 175 grams. A 16GB OnePlus 2 with 3GB of LPDDR4 RAM will be made available later this year at Rs. 22,999.

At the VR launch event, the company also revealed some more details about the build of the OnePlus 2, and apart from an aluminium and magnesium alloy frame, the OnePlus 2 features customisable capacitive keys, a hardware Alert Slider button (that switches between no notifications, priority notifications, and all notifications), and finally, the StyleSwap covers that were promised for the predecessor but never materialised.
Said to be easy and fast to switch out, the covers come in four materials - Bamboo, Black Apricot, Rosewood, Kevlar. The phone itself ships with a Sandstone Black cover, like the predecessor.

OnePlus 2: Invite system opens, here’s how you could secure your invite!
A few days ago, OnePlus had sent out official invites for the India launch event of its next flagship device the OnePlus 2. Those who can’t make it to the event, could witness the launch via Google Cardboard in the world’s first VR launch event.
In a post on its forum, OnePlus said, “As Carl has already mentioned, invites are still a necessity, but we’re striving to make the process as painless as possible thanks to more inventory, a reservation list, and a quicker rollout of shareable invites.”
In this post I explain how users could get their invite to the OnePlus 2. According to the post, “early and most fervent supports will be prioritised” in the first month. Considering that the device is launching tomorrow, the invitation will be extended to existing fans of OnePlus through the month of August.
Also, all those who were early adopters and “fervent supporter” will be given priority. OnePlus will also be recognising the contribution of all those who helped spread the word around OnePlus One and taking it “from an unknown company to where we are today”.
The post adds, “Specifically, I’m talking about phone smashers, early forum members, early purchasers and the most active OnePlus One invite evangelists. We want to show you our gratitude by offering you some of the first invites to purchase the OnePlus 2.”
Finally, for everyone else, “Don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten about everyone else — all our fans are important to us. There will be a variety of ways to get invites, you’ll have to work for it in contests and/or other promotions– but you will receive the invites quickly. There are also plans for a first come first serve basis rollout of the invitation system. The post explains, “For those who just want to receive an invite when we have stock, we’ve also created the new reservation list. This list will move on a first come first serve basis. Every day, we will evaluate our production and inventory situation to send out as many of these invites as possible. No hassles. Just put down your email address and wait for the invite to come. Everyone on the list will eventually receive an invite.”
Upcoming OnePlus 2 lists on Oppomart for Rs 31,700
OnePlus’ upcoming smartphone has had multiple leaks over the past few weeks but finally the purported OnePlus 2 has been listed on popular website Oppomart as well, days before its official launch. However, no images of the smartphone were revealed. Specifications of the smartphone have been listed on the website but the price for the device mentioned is $499 (approximately Rs 31,700), which is contradictory to the CEO’s statement where he previously stated that the OnePlus 2 will be priced sub-$450.
According to the website, the new OnePlus 2 will feature a 5.7-inch QHD display with a 2056 x 1440 pixel resolution along with a pixel density of 571ppi. It is said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor paired with 4GB RAM. It will be offered in black and white colour variants.
It would also run on Android 5.1-based Oxygen OS. The listing suggests that the phone will be equipped with a 16MP Sony Exmor IMX234 rear camera along with a 5MP front facing camera. It
The smartphone is listed in two variants based on 16GB and 64GB eMMC 5.0 inbuilt storage. The listing also mentioned that the device will include 4G FDD-LTE connectivity and a non-removable 3300mAh battery as well.

OnePlus 2: Company calls it ‘2016 Flagship Killer’, even before its launch
OnePlusis just one smartphone down, but has already addressed their upcoming successor – OnePlus 2 – as the ‘2016 flagship killer’. The company took to Facebook and Twitter, and thanked its partners, who worked with them to develop the new device.
The new smartphone will be unveiled on 27 July via the world’s first VR product launch. This is yet another way for the company to try and market its next flagship – the OnePlus 2.
The title given by the company to the new phone, which hasn’t even launched, proves that it is confident that the OnePlus 2 will be better than the flagships launching next year. Will it somehow trump next year’s OnePlus 3 as well? According to the post, some of the partnered companies to help the OnePlus were Samsung, Qualcomm, Toshiba, Japan Display, Texas Instruments, Everlight and many others.

OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has confirmed on Twitter that the new smartphone won’t cost more than $450. This works out to approximately Rs 28,500. Majority of the specifications have either been leaked by the company.
The most recent leak by the company suggests that the OnePlus 2 will have dual-SIM support. Also, 9to5google mentioned key specifications of the device from the discussion on Reddit. “According to various OnePlus team members (who did indeed verify themselves), the phone will have a slightly larger 3,300 mAh battery (up from 3,100 mAh of the OnePlus One), while the physical size of the phone will actually be moderately smaller than that of its predecessor.”
According to TheNextWeb, “The device will also get multiple StyleSwap back covers to customize its look. In addition, there will be different versions for Europe/Asia, North America and China versions with “much better band support than last time.”
In terms of specifications, at this price, the smartphone is rumoured to feature a metal build. According to a new leak, the smartphone will offer4GB LPDDR4 RAM. In other features, the company has already confirmed the presence of a Snapdragon 810 v2.1 SoC with a USB Type-C port too. In a recent post, OnePlus also claims that the fingerprint sensor will be better than Apple’s implementation of TouchID.
Along with a few leaks, an image of the OnePlus 2 has surfaced with some notable details. The OnePlus 2 will purportedly feature a metal frame with black matte finish. Also, the smartphone’s display is rumoured to be between 5.5-inches and 5.7-inches along with a 1080p resolution. It will be offered in 16GB and 64GB storage variants as well.
In other leak, a few live images of the OnePlus 2 have been spotted. According to a report by GSM Arena, the upcoming smartphone’s front panel is similar to the OnePlus One while the back panel offers a wooden finish. The report also points out that the back of the phone seemingly shows the rumoured fingerprint scanner on a vertical bar, under the camera and flash.

The smartphone, which will be announced on July 27, will have the next-generation LPDDR4 memory chips. At present, only Samsung's Galaxy S6 and S6 edge are the only smartphones to pack DDR4 RAM.
Apart from Asus Zenfone 2, no other smartphone in the Indian market comes with 4GB of RAM, which is needed to make use of the 64-bit processor for faster operations of the next generation of apps.

The company revealed yesterday that the OnePlus 2 smartphone will cost less than $450 at launch. Though it is quite high compared to the $299 launch price of OnePlus One, the smartphone is expected to have top-end features at a low price tag compared to models by the likes of Samsung, Apple, HTC etc. The company has also confirmed that it will run on Qualcomm's rather new 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor.

At Rs 99, OnePlus Cardboard VR headset goes on sale
Last month, OnePlus announced that the OnePlus 2 would be launched on 27 July via the world’s first VR product launch.
In a post on the OnePlus Forum founder Carl Pei said, “We’re excited for the future. As a tech startup, our goal is to push the envelope, look for new opportunities, and strive to perfect them. Virtual reality holds a monumental amount of potential. With cutting-edge technology, we can explore corners of the world like never before. We already know that VR will change the face of the entertainment industry, but we’re here to try something new.” To gear up for the VR product launch, OnePlus also announced the OnePlus Cardboard. A statement from OnePlus said, “This is not just a product; it’s an initiative. We aren’t making any money by offering OnePlus Cardboard. In fact, we are losing money with each one. There will come a day in which we will be able to travel the world and immerse ourselves in amazing things without ever leaving the comfort of our homes. OnePlus Cardboard exists to drive this idea forward.”
The statement added, “it’s still about VR for everyone. With the OnePlus Cardboard and any smartphone in tow, one can also explore a variety of applications that unfold all around you. Visit new places, play immersive games, fly through space and much more with the variety of apps available on the Google Store.
