iOS 8.4 hits the 40 percent mark in just a week after release

It’s been barely a week and Apple’s latest iOS 8.4 has already captured 40 percent of the market. A report by Mixpanel offers data as to how in a matter of a week, OS 8.4 usage now makes up more than 40% of all iOS device usage. It started at roughly 3.5 percent and later, the update jumped to 12.2 percent the next day and 32.8 percent on July 5, eventually to 41.2 percent on July 8.

iOS 8.4 has been welcomed by the Apple community

According to 9to5mac, the 40 percent mark for iOS 8.4 is an ‘impressive achievement’ but it would likely be even higher if it was not for the iOS 9 betas stealing some few million users away from the public release cycle. At the moment, usage data for iOS 8.4 is available third party apps while Apple has only stated that iOS 8 accounts for 84 percent devices.

Many users are adopting to iOS 8.4 to mostly try out the company’s new music streaming service Apple Music which made a debut a few weeks ago. Apart from this, there have been significant improvements in the new version of the OS.

There has been an update to the iBooks app. However, if News is what you’re eagerly waiting for, you’re better off waiting for iOS 9. News would replace Newstands and Wallet would be replaced by Passbook in iOS 9. According to a report by TheNextWeb, “You can now browse, download and listen to audiobooks from iBooks, and play them from a refreshed Now Playing feature designed just for audiobooks.”

The text rebooting bug has been fixed. As odd as it may sound, a text message could crash your iPhone. A specific combination of certain words and Arabic characters used to cause iPhones to reboot. With iOS 8.4, Apple has resolved this bug. Also, the Apple Watch bug which was causing severe issues has been resolved. A bug in the Apple Watch caused apps that have been uninstalled to get reinstalled when the iPhone app gets an update. App updates were getting pushed to the Apple Watch whenever the app got an update.
